Know Why Your Prayer Request May Go Unanswered
Know that God always hears your prayer request but He has certain guidelines to follow if you want Him to respond to prayer. What is Prayer - Prayer is the communication link between us and our heavenly Father. Be conscious of the following three things when presenting prayers to God:
Humility - He does not like arrogance or pride. He will not allow us to enter His presence with these traits in our hearts.
Trust - He will guide us down the right path and never steer us in the wrong direction. Recalling His help with past experiences will help increase the trust level in Him.
Gratitude - Thank Him verbally and through thoughts for the blessings He has already given us. Let's give The Lord the recognition and appreciation He deserves. Develop an attitude of gratitude.
How to Pray - Seven Key Elements for Effective Prayer:
Trust God - Have unwavering faith and no doubt that our Heavenly Father can take care of any life situation. Don't let feelings or emotions get in the way.
Have Proper Motives - Prayer requests to God loaded with selfish desires accomplish nothing. Our Father wants us to pray for His will to be done and not our own.
Eliminate Relationship Conflicts - A bitter or quarrelsome attitude with other people will affect communication with God.
Adopt a Generous Attitude - God is offended if we ignore the needs of others or if we give reluctantly.
Take Interest in God's Word - No concern for the Bible and its messages can cause a spiritual road block. God gave us His Book in order for us to build a personal relationship with Him and to adopt His guidelines and standards for abundant christian living.
Choose a Quiet Time and Place - Give our Creator the best time of your day, not just leftover time. He deserves much more. Pick a time and place where you won't be distracted or interrupted.
Follow a Plan and Make it a Habit - Grab you Bible (the New Living Translation is easy to read) and read a small section of scripture. This is where your conversation with God begins. Most bibles will have a "Life Topics" section. Begin with a topic that interests you most and then reference the appropriate bible verses for that subject matter. According to some reports, it takes about six weeks of daily reading for this routine to become a habit.
