Funeral Readings to Console the Heart and Spirit
Consoling funeral readings can help ease the sting of death.

The loss of a loved one or friend can bring grief, sorrow, pain and a host of other emotions. But know that God provides comfort through His Words. Soothing funeral readings can be found in encouraging bible verses provided below.
This has been a very difficult year for my wife and me. In January, my 89 year-old mother-in-law, Marguerite, passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. I'm so thankful that God allowed this wonderful christian woman to be a part of our lives.
Then, last week, I lost my 87 year-old father, Bob, in a bicycling accident. He passed away quickly and we were told by the doctor that he did not suffer.
I was honored to give the eulogies and funeral readings in tribute to their lives on earth. I know that many of you have experienced personal tragedies as well. It is my hope that the
following funeral prayers can help bring some relief and closure. Those we hold most dear never truly leave us....They live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives.
Here are a several funeral readings to contemplate:
2 Corinthians 4:14-5:1,8 reads, "We know that the same God who raised our Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus and present us to Himself along with you. All of these things are for your benefit. And as God's grace brings more and more people to Christ, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory. That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever."
John 3:1-2 reads, "After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to speak with Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you."
Isaiah 57:1-2 reads, "The righteous pass away; the godly often die before their time. And no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For the godly who die will rest in peace."
John 14:1-3 reads, "Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father's home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am."
Psalm 145:17-19 reads, "The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him sincerely. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them."
Psalm 46:1 reads, "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble."
Isaiah 41:10 reads, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." "
Psalm 23:1-6 reads, "The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to His name. Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, annointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever."
Ecclesiastes 7:1 reads, "A good reputation is more valuable than the most expensive perfume. In the same way, the day you die is better than the day you are born."
