Know When God Speaks To YOU
Here is a test to recognize when God is speaking to YOU.
I read a powerful message from a pastor who has dramatically influenced my life.
I've paraphrased his message below.
God's ultimate purpose for each of your lives is to make you like His Son, Jesus. He is the model for the way all humans should think, speak, feel, and act. To determine if an idea you have is really God-given, you need to ask the question, "Does this idea, action, thought, word, feeling make me more like Jesus?
The verses in James 3:14-17 give us an example for determining if an idea is God-given. It reads, "But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your hearts, don't brag about being wise. That is the worst kind of lie. For jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by the Devil. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and every kind of evil. But the wisdom that comes from Heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace-loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere."
This Bible message tells us a couple of things about what God's wisdom IS NOT. It's not motivated by envy nor selfish ambition.
Rather, these Bible verses lead to seven things to test whether or not your idea comes into mind from God.
Is it pure in nature - If any thought entering your mind is impure, it certainly did not come from God.
Is it characterized by peace - If the thought is from God, it will promote peace and harmony, not conflict.
Is it thoughtful or unselfish - An idea that is not in the best interest of others or would hurt them is not from God because He cares about what happens to others.
Is it humble and accommodating - If your idea comes from God, test it by sharing it with other people, asking them what they think. If you become hesitant about asking others or you're reluctant to share it, it didn't come from God because it's not leading you to the feedback from other people.
Is it comprised of compassion and kindness - If it's generated from Our Father, it will make you become more gracious and forgiving. It will steer you away from being judgmental or critical.
Is it unbiased and sincere - If your idea is God-given you won't leverage it to manupulate others to benefit yourself.
Be assured that any idea that highlights these seven characteristics for living, is God-based and will ultimately make you more like Jesus. More daily quotes are listed below.

Daily Quotes - Faith Over Fear
Worry always stems from fear. Regardless of what worries you, kids, job, the future, fear is responsible.
Matthew 8:26 reads, "And Jesus answered, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then He stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm."
In this passage Jesus exhibited dominance over the weather. His followers learned lessons of faith through God's incredible power. If He can calm a mighty storm, He can certainly calm the multitude of storms we encounter in our lives.
God, not fear, has the final authority. The words, "do not fear" are repeated throughout the Bible. Joshua 1:9 reads, "I command you - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you."
Many people in biblical times, including Moses, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Daniel, Peter, Paul, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, all faced fears and all were told by God not to be afraid.
Whether you are afraid or not, it's how you handle fear that's important.
There are three responses to fear:
to live with it
to run from it, or
to face it with faith.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ wants us to face fear with faith in Him. Daily quotes from John 14:27 reads, "I am leaving you with a gift - peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid."
