A Key Strategy For Coping with Stress

Stress

Stress is an affliction common to most people and coping with stress can be a life-long challenge. This debilitating negative emotion that can override any positive feelings of peace or joy and even hinder God's presence in your life. It creates waves of fear and uncertainty that can keep us in constant turmoil.

I can recall a time in my life when everything seemed hopeless. A job loss, major house fire and our son's life-threatening condition occurred simultaneously and left us no where to turn. I got down on my knees and prayed to God for help and guidance. This was my way of coping with stress and it ended up being a major turning point in my life.

Prayer reminds us that God is always with us. When we pray, we're inviting God to become actively involved in our life circumstances. He truly wants us to give our burdens to Him.

An important aspect of prayer is taking the time to listen what God has to say us. Our hectic lifestyle makes it tough to spend even a few minutes with God but this is all He is asking from us.

The Bible contains important nuggets of wisdom on how to deal with stress. Here are a four bible quotes that can make stress reduction much easier:

  • Phillipians 4:6-7 reads, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
  • 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 reads, "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies."
  • Psalm 69:29-30 reads, "I am suffering and in pain. Rescue me, O God, by your saving power. Then I will praise God's name with singing, and I will honor Him with thanksgiving."
  • Psalm 69:32-33 states, "The humble will see their God at work and be glad. let all who seek God's help live in joy. For the Lord hears the cries of His needy ones; He does not despise His people who are oppressed."
  • Coping with stress can be difficult. But it's encouraging to know that God is always with us in the midst of the hardships we face. As others witness God's work in our lives, they, also, may gain the courage to face and conquer their own trials.

The answers for coping with stress and other burdens of life are found in bible verses. Make it a part of your daily living to read and meditate on at least one verse contained in this timeless resource. You'll discover that God's word is the best stress management strategy and the easiest way to gain more peace in life.
