A Christian Ministries Organization Helping the Poorest where Vodoo is Prevalent

Christian Ministries to the Poor

Picture these scenarios where Heartline Christian Ministries has helped-

  • A small child continually being told that she is too dumb to learn to read but later receives her reading certificate and becomes employed by missionaries who encouraged her to enroll in their literacy classes.
  • A young woman, alone, pregnant, already the mother of two, with no money to pay rent for the one-room she and her children occupied. In desperation, she takes herbs and alcohol in an attempt to abort but discovers the christian ministry's prenatal program that provides the food, care, encouragement, rent money and education. She begins to learn a trade through the sewing program and now provides for her family.
  • A 13-year old who is molested by a family member that results in pregnancy. Due to her age, lack of family support and no money, she places her baby in one of the ministry's orphanages where he is loved and later adopted by an American family.
  • A young mother not knowing how to care for her newborn. Breastfeeding in her country is taboo. Through the ministry's child development program she receives food, vitamins and education in child training.
  • These are typical examples of how the Hands of Christ are at work helping the needy women and children in Haiti. Watch the Heartline Haiti Christian Ministries Video

Now, let me give you a little history of Haiti and what Heartline Ministries is doing to make a better life for these impoverished Haitians. But first, check out this disturbing video about child slavery in Haiti

    Geography

Haiti, in the West Indies, occupies the western third of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. About the size of Maryland, Haiti is two-thirds mountainous, with the rest of the country marked by great valleys, extensive plateaus, and small plains.

    Facts

  • 80% of Haitians live in abject poverty on $2 a day, making it the second poorest country in the world and the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
  • 52% of Haitians are illiterate
  • 75% of children are malnourished
  • 67% of the population have no steady income
  • 85% of births occur in homes in unsanitary conditions
  • 6% of women die during childbirth
  • Infant mortality is above 14%
  • Average life span is 53 years
  • Only 40% of Haitians have access to clean drinking water
  • Haitian Creole, based on the French language, is spoken by about 7.5 million people
  • In 1804, Haiti became the second nation in the western hemisphere, after the United States, to win complete independence
  • Haiti is the most densely populated country in Latin America and has the lowest per capita income
  • Political instability has persisted in Haiti since the end of World War II

The Book of Proverbs (NLT) has some important messages to contemplate:

  • "Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who help the poor honor Him." Proverbs 14:31
  • "If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord-and He will repay you." Proverbs 19:17
  • "Teach your children to choose the right path, and when they are older, they will remain upon it." Proverbs 22:6
  • "Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor." Proverbs 22:9
  • "If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving-large or small-it will be used to measure what is given back to you." Luke 6:38
  • We thank you for your gracious generosity. God knows.
